Gutenberg’s printing press was invented around 1445 and spread ideas much faster.  Originated from the Chinese, Gutenberg began printing the Gutenberg Bible.  It enabled communication and the spread of new ideas much quickly.  Book prices went down drastically, therefore, it encouraged people to learn to read/read more.  People began to interpret the bible by themselves instead of listening to the church officials.
